Welcome!
Welcome to Stephen's psychotherapy practice, where your well-being is priority one. I am dedicated to providing a safe, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space for individuals to explore their inner world, navigate life's challenges, and cultivate meaningful change.
Why I chose this path
I chose to dedicate my life to this work after I had a lot of help making some big, powerful changes in my life. I have survived addiction and depression and overcome some massive obstacles. Being a client in therapy was one of the many things that helped me to break through, and naturally brought my interest to being able to be of service. What I witnessed shift in myself and in others has given me an unwavering sense of hope for humanity.
My clinical experience
I obtained my master's in clinical mental health counseling from Capella University while working in two different residential treatment settings with adults struggling with addiction and/or mental health issues who were courageously asking for help in finding a new way to live.
My approach to therapy
My approach to therapy is integrative, drawing from variety of therapeutic modalities. I believe in tailoring treatment to each individual's unique needs, strengths, and goals, recognizing that there is no one-size-fits-all approach.
In the first one or two sessions, we will be establishing the therapeutic relationship, I will be gathering some history and hearing from you in detail what is bringing you to therapy at this time in your life, and what your goals are.
The approach we take and the goals we set are subject to change as needed, and always with your input and permission. Therapy is an organic, collaborative process.
Potential Benefits of Therapy
Some potential benefits of the therapeutic adventure include deeper levels of self-awareness, increased abilities to navigate life's inevitable ups and downs with equanimity, an enhanced ability to practice self-compassion, boosting resilience, improved quality of relationships, and cultivating a growth-mindset.
My Commitments
It is my mission to foster a collaborative and empowering therapeutic relationship. Whether you're seeking support for anxiety, depression, trauma, drug or alcohol addiction, relationship issues, simply a desire for personal growth and self-discovery, looking for deeper meaning in your life, or steadying your sense of peace, I am here to accompany you every step of the way.
As a therapist, I am committed to ongoing learning and professional development to ensure that I am providing the highest quality of care to my clients. I am also dedicated to creating a culturally sensitive and inclusive practice, where individuals from all backgrounds feel valued, respected, and understood.
Above all, my goal is to help you harness your inner resilience and wisdom, tap into your inherent strengths, and discover your own unique path to fulfillment and well-being. In this way your internal compass can become clear and bright to guide you on your way long after our therapeutic relationship is complete.
And when I am not in the office
Outside of my therapy practice, I enjoy spending time with my family. I like to find new and fun ways to move my body and build functional strength. I love music, cooking delicious nutritious food, and spending time outdoors!
